Don’t Waste Your Day
I woke up this morning to find an email from the daughter’s school:
“Due to inclement weather across Bexar County resulting in dangerous road conditions this morning, AHISD campuses and offices will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 31.”
Hannah’s school district sent out a similar notice. Pretty much all the San Antonio area school districts have made the same decision. Do you know what that means?
WINTER WEATHER DAY!
Now, I know what you may be thinking…This throws my whole day off! Surprises, disruption, and changes in the schedule can be frustrating and maybe even wearing. Being sensitive to that, my heart today is to encourage each of us to lean into the surprise, disruption, and change in schedule. Let’s not waste the day!
DON’T WASTE THE DAY!
‘This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear’.
This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty. ‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty. {Haggai 2:5-9}
“Do not fear!” It often seems that God is “shaking things up”. Trust Him. Rely on Him. See that true peace is found in Him. Don’t Waste The Day means to push through the frustration, anxiety, and weariness with God who leads with peace!
So as of right now, here is my plan for the day:
Slow down
Slow pour a pot of Flat Track Costa Rican coffee
Let Hannah and the daughters sleep in a bit
Catch up on my bible reading plan (I have missed four days)
Wake the fam up
Make and eat brunch together
Play a card game together (Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza) or work on a puzzle
Strategically plan the rest of the day together!
If the weather permits, take a walk, run, and maybe even go climbing together!
Somewhere between all of that - reply to some emails, make a few calls, prep for Sunday
Stay flexible with the above schedule and prepare for tomorrow (The weather looks the same!)
What will you do? What will you and your family do? Go get it TWP! Do not fear! The day is yours!
Don’t Waste it!
