Pick Your Three

Earlier this week I stumbled across a Washington Post article titled, “Study: To get enough exercise, try engaging in three different activities a week.” You can read the article here.

This is what stood out to me most:

“If we refocus people to more varieties of exercise, they might have more success reaching the targets.” (Susan Malone)

“Subjects who did more types of exercise also accumulated more total exercise. In other words, while walking is good, it’s even better to mix walking with swimming, strength training and dancing, for example. Or with yoga, pickle ball and balance/core exercise sessions. Three might be the magic number. Americans who do three or more different activities per month are more likely to achieve 150 minutes of exercise per week than those doing just one or two activities.” (Susan Malone)

Here are the the three activities I chose this week:

  • 24.8 mile bike ride with my father in law (we found a sweet new coffee shop along our ride).

  • 4 hours of indoor climbing with family (2 hrs. Monday / 2 hrs. Thursday at Armadillo Boulders).

  • 1.61 mile evening walk with the family and the dogs!

Now it is your turn! Pick your three! I encourage you to get creative and don’t do it alone!
