Eyes and Hip

Happy Monday TWP family! Today marks six days straight that I have taken off from running. Most of you know that I have been training for my first ultra marathon. (check out my post about that HERE)

I am currently 7 weeks into a 20 week ramp up. About a week and a half back I started to feel some hip pain. At first I pushed through it, but it then started to be really uncomfortable. Hip flexor strain? Too much stress on hip or femur? I’m not totally sure yet, but what I do know is that resting for the past six days has been refreshing!

Maybe I am just feeling the effects of being 39 years old! Two weeks ago I went to the optometrist and these are her exact words after my eye exam;

“It looks like your eyes have beat the rest of your body to 40 years old!”

Really!? Who says that!? I can read anything as I am now armed with some readers! Maybe you are feeling some aches and pains today. Physically, spiritually, mentally. I would encourage all of us to be intentional in these moments. Our response and attitude today makes all the difference! Check out today’s “DAILY GAZE” for some strategic scripture. Weather it’s for a day or a week, take time to slow down and seek rest.

Here are a few things that I have been focusing on and I pray they might be refreshing for you too:

  • Stretch and Cross train (this video from Kofuzi has been helpful - click HERE)

  • Reading (“Take Back Your Family” - Jeff Bethke and “Until Unity” - Francis Chan - audio book)

  • Music! (Click HERE or HERE to hear a couple playlist I have pout together)

Go get it TWP family!
